Image
I love anything with roses and this is one of my favourite cups. Just right for Earl Grey tea in the afternoon. I'm showing this with a pretty hanging heart and one of my altered bottles. It's such a lovely design and I love the Auricula's on the top right hand side. Even the inside is special..........  Tea always tastes better in a china cup..... just try it!! I'm having a quiet day today finishing my latest And Sew to Quilt book. I'll show you later. I'm showing my teacups to support my friend Jilly  a new blogger and teacup queen. I'm also linking to Marthhas Tea Cup Tuesday ,see you there!! Hugs, Angela.x

Mum's teacups.

Image
This set of six teacups and plates were my mothers pride and joy along with here collection of pianos. The fruit is hand painted and the guilding is 22ct gold. I believe she bought these in the early sixties from Sheffield market. They had pride of place in a beautiful georgian glass fronted display cabinet and only used for very special occasions. I'm posting to welcome my friend Jilly to the world of blogging. She has a booth opposite mine in The Old Salerooms in Wellington. Pop over and see her and be ready to enjoy a cup of tea. Now I'm of to my Etsy shop to fill the shelves a little having sadly neglecting it for a while. Here's a sneak peak... A pretty covered box to keep your treasures in.... and some lovely combs for summer hair. I'll be linking with Marthas tea cup Tuesday . Have a wonderful Tuesday. xox Angela.x

My day off.

Image
Today the sun has been shining and we can see some blue sky which is so nice after weeks and weeks of rain. Just right for a day at the beach and a little shopping. This is the beach at Budleigh Salterton in East Devon it is about a 40 minute drive from my home. I love the red cliffs. Here's the other end of the beach and the coastal path to Ladram Bay.  The South West coast path is 600 miles long and goes all the way around the SW coast. I've walked lots of bits of it, some is easy and some extremely hard. The beach here is made up of large pebbles. All different shades from black to grey to palest pink and even some white. They are all rolled to perfect smoothness by the sea. An English seaside always has beach huts. I love these in sugared almond shades, they look great with the pebbles. On my way back to the car I did a little shopping. This pretty little vase was only £1. It's hand made and also hand painted, I love it. Then onto a rummage sale

I'm like the White Rabbit, bust trying to catch up with myself so I nearly missed the party!! I'm here at last... I don't have a neat and tidy studio, I work where I can to create, my dining room table, the kitchen worktop or just sitting on my sofa. I have a small workspace here.. It's tiny but this is where you will find me making some pretty floral hair accessories.. beautiful combs...                                                                                              alice bands...                                                                          pretty brooches.....   and my best selling

I finished one of the samples for my class at The Festival of Quilts in August. I like to make several variations to inspire my students. I have used different pieces of lace over a base cut from an old quilt, then stitched in the same colour Valdani thread throughout. The silk ribbon roses and leaves are in a pretty shade of pink. This time I've backed the heart and it is soft stuffed with some added lavender to give a soft fragrance.                                She has a lovely face and a wistful expression don't you think. Today has been a shopping day . First in Totnes market where I found these lovely crocheted doilies.                             The darker ones are worked with such a fine thread ..exquisite.                             Then on to Ashburton where I found this delightful cuff. It is quite old and beautifully made, do you see the tiny buttons. It may have been attached to a sleeve at some time in it's life. I'm thinking that

Lavender Pillow.

Image
I had a request for a Lavender scented pillow to hang by the bed. Not too big and not too small. I remembered this pretty fabric that was just perfect. It's a linen look in beautiful soft colours, I've added a rolled rose, some lace stitched with beads, a hand dyed silk ribbon bow and a bead fringe. It smell so lovely, I may just keep it for myself.............. xox Angela.

Home sweet home.

My blog has been neglected for a while. I went back to Winchester on an errand of mercy when my friend trapped her sciatic nerve and was completely immobolised and in severe pain. As she runs a Bed and Breakfast in her home she needed some help to run her business. So off I went. After a couple of days I managed to get a nasty cold virus and have been ill ever since. It has turned into a chest infection and knocked me off my feet too. Meanwhile I have opened my booth in 'The Old Salerooms' indoor market. I'm selling my Vintage style flowers and stitched textiles. Being away and being ill has mean't that my business has been neglected but with the antibiotics nearly finished I'm ready for action. It's great being 'Home Sweet Home' so I made this Shabby Heart Garland to celebrate. It's made from pretty floral fabric that I've tea dyed, the pink bows are chiffon Sari silk and it is completely hand stitched. It's going in
